गुर कै बचनि रिदै धिआनु धारी ॥
Gur kai bacẖan riḏai ḏẖi▫ān ḏẖārī.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਤਜਾਰੀ ॥
काम क्रोध लोभ मोह तजारी ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ moh ṯajārī.
I have renounced sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment.
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸੁਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
द्रिड़ु नाम दानु इसनानु सुचारी ॥३॥
Ḏariṛ nām ḏān isnān sucẖārī. ||3||
I have enshrined the Naam within myself, with charity, true cleansing and righteous conduct. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
कहु नानक इहु ततु बीचारी ॥
Kaho Nānak ih ṯaṯ bīcẖārī.
Says Nanak, I have contemplated this essence of reality;

ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ = ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਰਿਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਧਾਰੀ = ਧਾਰੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ (ਨਾਲ)। ਜਪਉ = ਜਪਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਬਨਵਾਰੀ = {वनमालिन् = ਜੰਗਲੀ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਵਾਲਾ} ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।

ਫਲਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਉਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਪੈਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਮੂਰਤਿ = ਹਸਤੀ, ਹੋਂਦ, ਸਰੂਪ। ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ = (ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ = ਸਦਕੇ। ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ = ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ। ਅਧਾਰੀ = ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।

ਮੈਂ ਭੋਗ-ਬਿਲਾਸ, ਗੁੱਸਾ, ਲਾਲਚ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਪੁੰਨ, ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਕ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਜਾਰੀ = ਤਿਆਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ = (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ। ਦਾਨੁ = ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ। ਇਸਨਾਨੁ = ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਚਰਨ। ਸੁਚਾਰੀ = ਚੰਗੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ, ਆਚਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਰੱਖਣਾ-ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।੩।

ਨਾਨਕ = ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤਤੁ = ਨਿਚੋੜ, ਅਸਲੀਅਤ। ਜਪਿ = ਜਪ ਕੇ। ਉਤਾਰੀ = ਉਤਾਰਿ, ਲੰਘਾ।੪।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ।੪।੧੨।੧੮।

काम क्रोध लोभ मोह तजारी ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ moh ṯajārī.
I have renounced sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment.
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸੁਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
द्रिड़ु नाम दानु इसनानु सुचारी ॥३॥
Ḏariṛ nām ḏān isnān sucẖārī. ||3||
I have enshrined the Naam within myself, with charity, true cleansing and righteous conduct. ||3||

ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ = ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਰਿਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਧਾਰੀ = ਧਾਰੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ (ਨਾਲ)। ਜਪਉ = ਜਪਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਬਨਵਾਰੀ = {वनमालिन् = ਜੰਗਲੀ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਵਾਲਾ} ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।

ਫਲਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਉਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਪੈਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਮੂਰਤਿ = ਹਸਤੀ, ਹੋਂਦ, ਸਰੂਪ। ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ = (ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ = ਸਦਕੇ। ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ = ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ। ਅਧਾਰੀ = ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।

ਮੈਂ ਭੋਗ-ਬਿਲਾਸ, ਗੁੱਸਾ, ਲਾਲਚ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਪੁੰਨ, ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਕ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਜਾਰੀ = ਤਿਆਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ = (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ। ਦਾਨੁ = ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ। ਇਸਨਾਨੁ = ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਚਰਨ। ਸੁਚਾਰੀ = ਚੰਗੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ, ਆਚਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਰੱਖਣਾ-ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।੩।

ਨਾਨਕ = ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤਤੁ = ਨਿਚੋੜ, ਅਸਲੀਅਤ। ਜਪਿ = ਜਪ ਕੇ। ਉਤਾਰੀ = ਉਤਾਰਿ, ਲੰਘਾ।੪।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ।੪।੧੨।੧੮।
