Third Mehl: Without serving the True Guru, peace is not obtained, and the sense of duality does not depart. No matter how much one may wish, without the Lord's Grace, He is not found. Those who are filled with greed and corruption are ruined by the love of duality. They cannot escape birth and death, and with egotism within them, they suffer in misery. Those who center their consciousness on the True Guru, never go empty-handed. They are not summoned by the Messenger of Death, and they do not suffer in pain. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved; they merge in the True Lord.
Pauree: He alone is called a minstrel, who enshrines love for his Lord and Master. Standing at the Lord's Door, he serves the Lord, and reflects upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad. The minstrel attains the Lord's Gate and Mansion, and he keeps the True Lord clasped to his heart. The status of the minstrel is exalted; he loves the Name of the Lord. The service of the minstrel is to meditate on the Lord; he is emancipated by the Lord.

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
वाहु वाहु बाणी निरंकार है तिसु जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥
vāhu vāhu baṇī nirankār hai ṯis jevad avar na ko▫e.
Waaho! Waaho! is the Bani, the Word, of the Formless Lord. There is no other as great as He is.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
वाहु वाहु अगम अथाहु है वाहु वाहु सचा सोइ ॥
vāhu vāhu agam athāhu hai vāhu vāhu sacẖā so▫e.
Waaho! Waaho! The Lord is unfathomable and inaccessible. Waaho! Waaho! He is the True One.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
वाहु वाहु वेपरवाहु है वाहु वाहु करे सु होइ ॥
vāhu vāhu veparvāhu hai vāhu vāhu kare so ho▫e.
Waaho! Waaho! He is the self-existent Lord. Waaho! Waaho! As He wills, so it comes to pass.

वाहु वाहु अम्रित नामु है गुरमुखि पावै कोइ ॥
vāhu vāhu amriṯ nām hai gurmukẖ pāvai ko▫e.
Waaho! Waaho! is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, obtained by the Gurmukh.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
वाहु वाहु करमी पाईऐ आपि दइआ करि देइ ॥
vāhu vāhu karmī pā▫ī▫ai āp ḏa▫i▫ā kar ḏe▫e.
Waaho! Waaho! This is realized by His Grace, as He Himself grants His Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਇ ॥੧॥
नानक वाहु वाहु गुरमुखि पाईऐ अनदिनु नामु लएइ ॥१॥
Nānak vāhu vāhu gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai an▫ḏin nām la▫e▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, Waaho! Waaho! This is obtained by the Gurmukhs, who hold tight to the Naam, night and day. ||1||

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਾਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे साति न आवई दूजी नाही जाइ ॥
Bin saṯgur seve sāṯ na āvī ḏūjī nāhī jā▫e.
Without serving the True Guru, peace is not obtained, and the sense of duality does not depart.
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
जे बहुतेरा लोचीऐ विणु करमै न पाइआ जाइ ॥
Je bahuṯerā locẖī▫ai viṇ karmai na pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
No matter how much one may wish, without the Lord's Grace, He is not found.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇ ॥
जिन्हा अंतरि लोभ विकारु है दूजै भाइ खुआइ ॥
Jinĥā anṯar lobẖ vikār hai ḏūjai bẖā▫e kẖu▫ā▫e.
Those who are filled with greed and corruption are ruined by the love of duality.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
जमणु मरणु न चुकई हउमै विचि दुखु पाइ ॥
Jamaṇ maraṇ na cẖuk▫ī ha▫umai vicẖ ḏukẖ pā▫e.
They cannot escape birth and death, and with egotism within them, they suffer in misery.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
जिन्हा सतिगुर सिउ चितु लाइआ सु खाली कोई नाहि ॥
Jinĥā saṯgur si▫o cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā so kẖālī ko▫ī nāhi.
Those who center their consciousness on the True Guru, never go empty-handed.
ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥
तिन जम की तलब न होवई ना ओइ दुख सहाहि ॥
Ŧin jam kī ṯalab na hova▫ī nā o▫e ḏukẖ sahāhi.
They are not summoned by the Messenger of Death, and they do not suffer in pain.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
नानक गुरमुखि उबरे सचै सबदि समाहि ॥२॥
Nānak gurmukẖ ubre sacẖai sabaḏ samāhi. ||2||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved; they merge in the True Lord. ||2||

ਢਾਢੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
ढाढी तिस नो आखीऐ जि खसमै धरे पिआरु ॥
Dẖādẖī ṯis no ākẖī▫ai jė kẖasmai ḏẖare pi▫ār.
He alone is called a minstrel, who enshrines love for his Lord and Master.
ਦਰਿ ਖੜਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
दरि खड़ा सेवा करे गुर सबदी वीचारु ॥
Ḏar kẖaṛā sevā kare gur sabḏī vīcẖār.
Standing at the Lord's Door, he serves the Lord, and reflects upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਸਚੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ढाढी दरु घरु पाइसी सचु रखै उर धारि ॥
Dẖādẖī ḏar gẖar pā▫isī sacẖ rakẖai ur ḏẖār.
The minstrel attains the Lord's Gate and Mansion, and he keeps the True Lord clasped to his heart.
ਢਾਢੀ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
ढाढी का महलु अगला हरि कै नाइ पिआरि ॥
Dẖādẖī kā mahal aglā har kai nā▫e pi▫ār.
The status of the minstrel is exalted; he loves the Name of the Lord.
ਢਾਢੀ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੧੮॥
ढाढी की सेवा चाकरी हरि जपि हरि निसतारि ॥१८॥
Dẖādẖī kī sevā cẖākrī har jap har nisṯār. ||18||
The service of the minstrel is to meditate on the Lord; he is emancipated by the Lord. ||18||

ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਵਾਹ! ਵਾਹ! ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਰੂਪ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੌਧਕ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹੈ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ। ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਹੈ ਉਸ ਸੱਚ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ। ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਰੂਪ! ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਰੂਪ! ਹੈ ਸੁਧਾ-ਸਰੂਪ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ; ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਾਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇ ॥ ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਜਿੰਨੀ ਬਥੇਰੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੇ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਾਲਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੰਮਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ (ਕਾਰਨ) ਉਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਜਾਂ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਮਪਰਨ ਪਾਰ ਉਤੱਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜਿਥੇ ਇਹ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ) ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰੀਏ, ਮੇਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭ ਦਾ ਔਗੁਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ) ਵਾਂਜਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ, ਨਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ)। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ ਦਰਿ ਖੜਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਸਚੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੧੮॥
ਪਉੜੀ। ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਜੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਢਾਢੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੁਲੰਦ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਢਾਢੀ ਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨੀਏ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਲੁ = ਨਿਵਾਸ-ਅਸਥਾਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ। ਅਗਲਾ = ਉੱਚਾ।੧੮।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਢਾਢੀ ਅਖਵਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ), ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬੱਸ, ਉਹ ਢਾਢੀ ਇਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੮।

Third Mehl: Without serving the True Guru, peace is not obtained, and the sense of duality does not depart. No matter how much one may wish, without the Lord's Grace, He is not found. Those who are filled with greed and corruption are ruined by the love of duality. They cannot escape birth and death, and with egotism within them, they suffer in misery. Those who center their consciousness on the True Guru, never go empty-handed. They are not summoned by the Messenger of Death, and they do not suffer in pain. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved; they merge in the True Lord.
Pauree: He alone is called a minstrel, who enshrines love for his Lord and Master. Standing at the Lord's Door, he serves the Lord, and reflects upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad. The minstrel attains the Lord's Gate and Mansion, and he keeps the True Lord clasped to his heart. The status of the minstrel is exalted; he loves the Name of the Lord. The service of the minstrel is to meditate on the Lord; he is emancipated by the Lord.

वाहु वाहु बाणी निरंकार है तिसु जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥

Waaho! Waaho! This is realized by His Grace, as He Himself grants His Grace.

Bin saṯgur seve sāṯ na āvī ḏūjī nāhī jā▫e.
Without serving the True Guru, peace is not obtained, and the sense of duality does not depart.
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
जे बहुतेरा लोचीऐ विणु करमै न पाइआ जाइ ॥
Je bahuṯerā locẖī▫ai viṇ karmai na pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
No matter how much one may wish, without the Lord's Grace, He is not found.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇ ॥
जिन्हा अंतरि लोभ विकारु है दूजै भाइ खुआइ ॥
Jinĥā anṯar lobẖ vikār hai ḏūjai bẖā▫e kẖu▫ā▫e.
Those who are filled with greed and corruption are ruined by the love of duality.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
जमणु मरणु न चुकई हउमै विचि दुखु पाइ ॥
Jamaṇ maraṇ na cẖuk▫ī ha▫umai vicẖ ḏukẖ pā▫e.
They cannot escape birth and death, and with egotism within them, they suffer in misery.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
जिन्हा सतिगुर सिउ चितु लाइआ सु खाली कोई नाहि ॥
Jinĥā saṯgur si▫o cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā so kẖālī ko▫ī nāhi.
Those who center their consciousness on the True Guru, never go empty-handed.
ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥
तिन जम की तलब न होवई ना ओइ दुख सहाहि ॥
Ŧin jam kī ṯalab na hova▫ī nā o▫e ḏukẖ sahāhi.
They are not summoned by the Messenger of Death, and they do not suffer in pain.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
नानक गुरमुखि उबरे सचै सबदि समाहि ॥२॥
Nānak gurmukẖ ubre sacẖai sabaḏ samāhi. ||2||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved; they merge in the True Lord. ||2||

ढाढी का महलु अगला हरि कै नाइ पिआरि ॥
Dẖādẖī kā mahal aglā har kai nā▫e pi▫ār.
The status of the minstrel is exalted; he loves the Name of the Lord.
ਢਾਢੀ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੧੮॥
ढाढी की सेवा चाकरी हरि जपि हरि निसतारि ॥१८॥
Dẖādẖī kī sevā cẖākrī har jap har nisṯār. ||18||
The service of the minstrel is to meditate on the Lord; he is emancipated by the Lord. ||18||

ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਵਾਹ! ਵਾਹ! ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਰੂਪ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੌਧਕ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹੈ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ। ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਹੈ ਉਸ ਸੱਚ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ। ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਰੂਪ! ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਰੂਪ! ਹੈ ਸੁਧਾ-ਸਰੂਪ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ; ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਾਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇ ॥ ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਜਿੰਨੀ ਬਥੇਰੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੇ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਾਲਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੰਮਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ (ਕਾਰਨ) ਉਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਜਾਂ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਮਪਰਨ ਪਾਰ ਉਤੱਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜਿਥੇ ਇਹ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ) ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰੀਏ, ਮੇਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭ ਦਾ ਔਗੁਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ) ਵਾਂਜਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ, ਨਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ)। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ ਦਰਿ ਖੜਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਸਚੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ ਢਾਢੀ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੧੮॥
ਪਉੜੀ। ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਜੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਢਾਢੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੁਲੰਦ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਢਾਢੀ ਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨੀਏ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਲੁ = ਨਿਵਾਸ-ਅਸਥਾਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ। ਅਗਲਾ = ਉੱਚਾ।੧੮।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਢਾਢੀ ਅਖਵਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ), ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬੱਸ, ਉਹ ਢਾਢੀ ਇਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੮।
