ਆਏ ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਰਣੀ ॥
आए अनिक जनम भ्रमि सरणी ॥
Ā▫e anik janam bẖaram sarṇī.
After wandering through so many incarnations, I have come to Your Sanctuary.
ਉਧਰੁ ਦੇਹ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਚਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
उधरु देह अंध कूप ते लावहु अपुनी चरणी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Uḏẖar ḏeh anḏẖ kūp ṯe lāvhu apunī cẖarṇī. ||1|| rahā▫o.

गिआनु धिआनु किछु करमु न जाना नाहिन निरमल करणी ॥
Gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān kicẖẖ karam na jānā nāhin nirmal karṇī.
I do not know anything about spiritual wisdom, meditation or karma, and my way of life is not clean and pure.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਬਿਖਮ ਨਦੀ ਜਾਇ ਤਰਣੀ ॥੧॥
साधसंगति कै अंचलि लावहु बिखम नदी जाइ तरणी ॥१॥
Sāḏẖsangaṯ kai ancẖal lāvhu bikẖam naḏī jā▫e ṯarṇī. ||1||
Please attach me to the hem of the robe of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; help me to cross over the terrible river. ||1||
ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਸ ਮੀਠੇ ਇਹ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਣੀ ॥
सुख स्मपति माइआ रस मीठे इह नही मन महि धरणी ॥
Sukẖ sampaṯ mā▫i▫ā ras mīṯẖe ih nahī man mėh ḏẖarṇī.
Comforts, riches and the sweet pleasures of Maya - do not implant these within your mind.

ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਅਨੇਕ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਖੂਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ = ਭਟਕ ਕੇ, ਭੌਂ ਕੇ। ਉਧਰੁ = ਬਚਾ ਲੈ। ਦੇਹ = ਸਰੀਰ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ। ਅੰਧ = ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ, ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ। ਕੂਪ = ਖੂਹ। ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੌਂ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਡੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਮੈਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਵੀਚਾਰ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹੁ-ਰੀਤੀ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕਠਨ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
ਗਿਆਨੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ। ਧਿਆਨੁ = ਜੁੜੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ। ਕਰਮੁ = ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ। ਨ ਜਾਨਾ = ਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ। ਕਰਣੀ = ਕਰਤੱਬ, ਆਚਰਣ। ਕੈ ਅੰਚਲਿ = ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ। ਬਿਖਮ = ਔਖੀ। ਜਾਇ ਤਰਣੀ = ਤਰੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਭੀ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਦੇ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਔਖੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਨਦੀ ਤਰੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।੧।
ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਸ ਮੀਠੇ ਇਹ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਣੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਪਾਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਆਭਰਣੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੨॥
ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਆਰਾਮ, ਹਨ ਦੌਲਤ, ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਂ ਟਿਕਾ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਗੋਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੀ ਵੁਸ ਦਾ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਪਤਿ = ਧਨ। ਮਹਿ = ਵਿਚ। ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ = ਰੱਜ, ਸੰਤੋਖ। ਆਭਰਣੀ = ਗਹਣੇ।੨।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ, ਧਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਆਦ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾ ਗਹਣਾ ਹੈ।੨।੮।੧੨।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ, ਧਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਆਦ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾ ਗਹਣਾ ਹੈ।੨।੮।੧੨।
