Those who meditate on my Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, through the Word of My Guru Ji's Teachings, are rid of the disease of ego. || 1 || Pause || Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva suffer from the disease of the three gunas — the three qualities; they do their deeds in egotism. The poor fools do not remember the One who created them; this understanding of the Lord, Waheguru Ji is only obtained by those who become Gurmukh. || 2 || The entire world is afflicted by the disease of egotism. They suffer the terrible pains of birth and death. ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
जिन कै अंतरि वसिआ मेरा हरि हरि तिन के सभि रोग गवाए ॥
Jin kai anṯar vasi▫ā merā har har ṯin ke sabẖ rog gavā▫e.
Those beings, within whose inner selves my Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, dwells - all their diseases are cured.
ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
ते मुकत भए जिन हरि नामु धिआइआ तिन पवितु परम पदु पाए ॥१॥
Ŧe mukaṯ bẖa▫e jin har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā ṯin paviṯ param paḏ pā▫e. ||1||
They alone become liberated, who meditate on the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji; they obtain the supreme status. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਆਰੋਗ ਭਏ ॥
मेरे राम हरि जन आरोग भए ॥
Mere rām har jan ārog bẖa▫e.
O my Lord, Waheguru Ji, the Lord, Waheguru Ji's humble servants become healthy.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर बचनी जिना जपिआ मेरा हरि हरि तिन के हउमै रोग गए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur bacẖnī jinā japi▫ā merā har har ṯin ke ha▫umai rog ga▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Those who meditate on my Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, through the Word of My Guru Ji's Teachings, are rid of the disease of ego. ||1||Pause||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
ब्रहमा बिसनु महादेउ त्रै गुण रोगी विचि हउमै कार कमाई ॥
Barahmā bisan mahāḏe▫o ṯarai guṇ rogī vicẖ ha▫umai kār kamā▫ī.
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva suffer from the disease of the three gunas - the three qualities; they do their deeds in egotism.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
जिनि कीए तिसहि न चेतहि बपुड़े हरि गुरमुखि सोझी पाई ॥२॥
Jin kī▫e ṯisėh na cẖīṯėh bapuṛe har gurmukẖ sojẖī pā▫ī. ||2||
The poor fools do not remember the One who created them; this understanding of the Lord, Waheguru Ji is only obtained by those who become Gurmukh. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
हउमै रोगि सभु जगतु बिआपिआ तिन कउ जनम मरण दुखु भारी ॥
Ha▫umai rog sabẖ jagaṯ bi▫āpi▫ā ṯin ka▫o janam maraṇ ḏukẖ bẖārī.
The entire world is afflicted by the disease of egotism. They suffer the terrible pains of birth and death.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
गुर परसादी को विरला छूटै तिसु जन कउ हउ बलिहारी ॥३॥
Gur parsādī ko virlā cẖẖūtai ṯis jan ka▫o ha▫o balihārī. ||3||
By My Guru Ji's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
जिनि सिसटि साजी सोई हरि जाणै ता का रूपु अपारो ॥
Jin sisat sājī so▫ī har jāṇai ṯā kā rūp apāro.
The One who created the Universe, that Lord, Waheguru Ji alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
नानक आपे वेखि हरि बिगसै गुरमुखि ब्रहम बीचारो ॥४॥३॥१४॥
Nānak āpe vekẖ har bigsai gurmukẖ barahm bīcẖāro. ||4||3||14||
O Nanak, the Lord, Waheguru Ji Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God, Waheguru Ji. ||4||3||14||

ਸੂਹੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ = ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਤੇ = ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਮੁਕਤ = ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ। ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ = ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ। ਪਾਏ = ਪਾਇਆ, ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।੧।
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਆਰੋਗ ਭਏ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ = ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਜਨ। ਆਰੋਗ = ਰੋਗ-ਰਹਿਤ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ, ਦਾਸ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ) ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
ਬਰ੍ਹਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਜੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਸੁਭਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਸਵੈ-ਹਗਤਾ ਦੇ ਜਜ਼ਬੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਮਝੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਦੇਉ = ਸ਼ਿਵ। ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਕਮਾਈ = ਕੀਤੀ। ਜਿਨਿ = ਜਿਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ। ਤਿਸਹਿ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ} ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ। ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ = ਨਹੀਂ ਚੇਤਦੇ। ਬਪੁੜੇ = ਵਿਚਾਰੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ।੨।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ, ਸ਼ਿਵ (ਭੀ) ਰੋਗੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ। ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਚੇਤਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਰਹੇ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੨।
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੰਮਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਰੋਗਿ = ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ। ਬਿਆਪਿਆ = ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਰਸਾਦੀ = ਪਰਸਾਦਿ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ। ਕੋ = ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਹਉ = ਹਉਂ, ਮੈਂ। ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ = ਸਦਕੇ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ। ਖੁਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਸਟਿ = ਦੁਨੀਆ। ਸਾਜੀ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਤਾ ਕਾ = ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦਾ। ਅਪਾਰੋ = ਅਪਾਰ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਦਿੱਸੇ। ਆਪੇ = ਆਪ ਹੀ। ਵੇਖਿ = ਵੇਖ ਕੇ। ਵਿਗਸੈ = ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ = ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ।੪।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨੂੰ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੱਦ ਬੰਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੪।੩।੧੪।

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
जिन कै अंतरि वसिआ मेरा हरि हरि तिन के सभि रोग गवाए ॥
Jin kai anṯar vasi▫ā merā har har ṯin ke sabẖ rog gavā▫e.
Those beings, within whose inner selves my Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, dwells - all their diseases are cured.
ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
ते मुकत भए जिन हरि नामु धिआइआ तिन पवितु परम पदु पाए ॥१॥
Ŧe mukaṯ bẖa▫e jin har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā ṯin paviṯ param paḏ pā▫e. ||1||
They alone become liberated, who meditate on the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji; they obtain the supreme status. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਆਰੋਗ ਭਏ ॥
मेरे राम हरि जन आरोग भए ॥
Mere rām har jan ārog bẖa▫e.
O my Lord, Waheguru Ji, the Lord, Waheguru Ji's humble servants become healthy.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर बचनी जिना जपिआ मेरा हरि हरि तिन के हउमै रोग गए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur bacẖnī jinā japi▫ā merā har har ṯin ke ha▫umai rog ga▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
ब्रहमा बिसनु महादेउ त्रै गुण रोगी विचि हउमै कार कमाई ॥
Barahmā bisan mahāḏe▫o ṯarai guṇ rogī vicẖ ha▫umai kār kamā▫ī.
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva suffer from the disease of the three gunas - the three qualities; they do their deeds in egotism.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
जिनि कीए तिसहि न चेतहि बपुड़े हरि गुरमुखि सोझी पाई ॥२॥
Jin kī▫e ṯisėh na cẖīṯėh bapuṛe har gurmukẖ sojẖī pā▫ī. ||2||
The poor fools do not remember the One who created them; this understanding of the Lord, Waheguru Ji is only obtained by those who become Gurmukh. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
हउमै रोगि सभु जगतु बिआपिआ तिन कउ जनम मरण दुखु भारी ॥
Ha▫umai rog sabẖ jagaṯ bi▫āpi▫ā ṯin ka▫o janam maraṇ ḏukẖ bẖārī.
The entire world is afflicted by the disease of egotism. They suffer the terrible pains of birth and death.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
गुर परसादी को विरला छूटै तिसु जन कउ हउ बलिहारी ॥३॥
Gur parsādī ko virlā cẖẖūtai ṯis jan ka▫o ha▫o balihārī. ||3||
By My Guru Ji's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
जिनि सिसटि साजी सोई हरि जाणै ता का रूपु अपारो ॥
Jin sisat sājī so▫ī har jāṇai ṯā kā rūp apāro.
The One who created the Universe, that Lord, Waheguru Ji alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
नानक आपे वेखि हरि बिगसै गुरमुखि ब्रहम बीचारो ॥४॥३॥१४॥
Nānak āpe vekẖ har bigsai gurmukẖ barahm bīcẖāro. ||4||3||14||
O Nanak, the Lord, Waheguru Ji Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God, Waheguru Ji. ||4||3||14||

ਸੂਹੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ = ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਤੇ = ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਮੁਕਤ = ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ। ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ = ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ। ਪਾਏ = ਪਾਇਆ, ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।੧।
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਆਰੋਗ ਭਏ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ = ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਜਨ। ਆਰੋਗ = ਰੋਗ-ਰਹਿਤ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ, ਦਾਸ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ) ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
ਬਰ੍ਹਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਜੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਸੁਭਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਸਵੈ-ਹਗਤਾ ਦੇ ਜਜ਼ਬੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਮਝੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਦੇਉ = ਸ਼ਿਵ। ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਕਮਾਈ = ਕੀਤੀ। ਜਿਨਿ = ਜਿਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ। ਤਿਸਹਿ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ} ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ। ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ = ਨਹੀਂ ਚੇਤਦੇ। ਬਪੁੜੇ = ਵਿਚਾਰੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ।੨।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ, ਸ਼ਿਵ (ਭੀ) ਰੋਗੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ। ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਚੇਤਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਰਹੇ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੨।
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੰਮਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਰੋਗਿ = ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ। ਬਿਆਪਿਆ = ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਰਸਾਦੀ = ਪਰਸਾਦਿ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ। ਕੋ = ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਹਉ = ਹਉਂ, ਮੈਂ। ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ = ਸਦਕੇ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ। ਖੁਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਸਟਿ = ਦੁਨੀਆ। ਸਾਜੀ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਤਾ ਕਾ = ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦਾ। ਅਪਾਰੋ = ਅਪਾਰ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਦਿੱਸੇ। ਆਪੇ = ਆਪ ਹੀ। ਵੇਖਿ = ਵੇਖ ਕੇ। ਵਿਗਸੈ = ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ = ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ।੪।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨੂੰ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੱਦ ਬੰਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੪।੩।੧੪।
