ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे बहुता दुखु लागा जुग चारे भरमाई ॥
Bin saṯgur seve bahuṯā ḏukẖ lāgā jug cẖāre bẖarmā▫ī.

ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥
हम दीन तुम जुगु जुगु दाते सबदे देहि बुझाई ॥१॥
Ham ḏīn ṯum jug jug ḏāṯe sabḏe ḏėh bujẖā▫ī. ||1||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਆਧਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु दाता मेलि मिलावहु हरि नामु देवहु आधारे ॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṯgur ḏāṯā mel milāvhu har nām ḏevhu āḏẖāre. Rahā▫o.
Unite me in the Union of the True Guru, the Great Giver, and give me the support of the Lord's Name. ||Pause||
ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
मनसा मारि दुबिधा सहजि समाणी पाइआ नामु अपारा ॥
Mansā mār ḏubiḏẖā sahj samāṇī pā▫i▫ā nām apārā.
Conquering my desires and duality, I have merged in celestial peace, and I have found the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
हरि रसु चाखि मनु निरमलु होआ किलबिख काटणहारा ॥२॥
Har ras cẖākẖ man nirmal ho▫ā kilbikẖ kātaṇhārā. ||2||
I have tasted the sublime essence of the Lord, and my soul has become immaculately pure; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. ||2||
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
सबदि मरहु फिरि जीवहु सद ही ता फिरि मरणु न होई ॥
Sabaḏ marahu fir jīvhu saḏ hī ṯā fir maraṇ na ho▫ī.
Dying in the Word of the Shabad, you shall live forever, and you shall never die again.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
अम्रितु नामु सदा मनि मीठा सबदे पावै कोई ॥३॥
Amriṯ nām saḏā man mīṯẖā sabḏe pāvai ko▫ī. ||3||
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam is ever-sweet to the mind; but how few are those who obtain the Shabad. ||3||
ਦਾਤੈ ਦਾਤਿ ਰਖੀ ਹਥਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਈ ॥
दातै दाति रखी हथि अपणै जिसु भावै तिसु देई ॥
Ḏāṯai ḏāṯ rakẖī hath apṇai jis bẖāvai ṯis ḏe▫ī.
The Great Giver keeps His Gifts in His Hand; He gives them to those with whom He is pleased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਪਹਿ ਸੇਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
नानक नामि रते सुखु पाइआ दरगह जापहि सेई ॥४॥११॥
Nānak nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā ḏargėh jāpėh se▫ī. ||4||11||
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, they find peace, and in the Court of the Lord, they are exalted. ||4||11||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਅਖੀ = (ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ। ਘਰੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ = ਘਰ ਹੀ ਵਿਚ। ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ। ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਪਾਏ = ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥

ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਨਿਰਬਲ ਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਮੂਹ ਯੁੱਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਦੇ।
ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ = ਚਹੁੰਆਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ। ਭਰਮਾਈ = ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ।
ਦੀਨ = ਕੰਗਾਲ, ਮੰਗਤੇ। ਸਬਦੇ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਦੇਹਿ = ਦੇਂਹਿ, ਤੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਬੁਝਾਈ = ਸਮਝ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਮੰਗਤੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ॥੧॥

ਆਪਣੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਤੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਧਾਰੇ = ਆਸਰਾ ॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ, ਅਤੇ (ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਹ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਜੋ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਦੇ ਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਸਾ = {मनीषा} ਵਾਸਨਾ। ਮਾਰਿ = ਮਾਰ ਕੇ। ਦੁਬਿਧਾ = ਦੁ-ਕਿਸਮਾ-ਪਨ, ਡਾਂਵਾਂ-ਡੋਲ ਹਾਲਤ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਵਾਸਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਡਾਂਵਾਂ-ਡੋਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਨੂੰਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਨੂੰਗਾ।
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ = ਪਾਪ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਨਾਮ-ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਠੜਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਣਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦਿ = ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਮਰਹੁ = (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋ। ਜੀਵਹੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ। ਸਦ ਹੀ = ਸਦਾ ਹੀ। ਮਰਣੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋ, ਫਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ, ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕੇਗੀ।

ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਪਹਿ ਸੇਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

ਦਾਤੈ = ਦਾਤੇ ਨੇ। ਹਥਿ = ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ। ਦੇਈ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਦਾਤਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
