ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ ॥
हरि हरि बूंद भए हरि सुआमी हम चात्रिक बिलल बिललाती ॥
Har har būnḏ bẖa▫e har su▫āmī ham cẖāṯrik bilal billāṯī.
The Lord, Har, Har, is the rain-drop; I am the song-bird, crying, crying out for it.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖਾਤੀ ॥੧॥
हरि हरि क्रिपा करहु प्रभ अपनी मुखि देवहु हरि निमखाती ॥१॥
Har har kirpā karahu parabẖ apnī mukẖ ḏevhu har nimkẖāṯī. ||1||
O Lord God, please bless me with Your Mercy, and pour Your Name into my mouth, even if for only an instant. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਇਕ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
हरि बिनु रहि न सकउ इक राती ॥
Har bin rėh na saka▫o ik rāṯī.
Without the Lord, I cannot live for even a second.
ਜਿਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਲੈ ਅਮਲੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਮ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिउ बिनु अमलै अमली मरि जाई है तिउ हरि बिनु हम मरि जाती ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o bin amlai amlī mar jā▫ī hai ṯi▫o har bin ham mar jāṯī. Rahā▫o.
Like the addict who dies without his drug, I die without the Lord. ||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਵਰ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਹਮ ਲਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਮਾਤੀ ॥
तुम हरि सरवर अति अगाह हम लहि न सकहि अंतु माती ॥
Ŧum har sarvar aṯ agāh ham lėh na sakahi anṯ māṯī.
You, Lord, are the deepest, most unfathomable ocean; I cannot find even a trace of Your limits.
ਤੂ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਗਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
तू परै परै अपर्मपरु सुआमी मिति जानहु आपन गाती ॥२॥
Ŧū parai parai aprampar su▫āmī miṯ jānhu āpan gāṯī. ||2||
You are the most remote of the remote, limitless and transcendent; O Lord Master, You alone know Your state and extent. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
हरि के संत जना हरि जपिओ गुर रंगि चलूलै राती ॥
Har ke sanṯ janā har japi▫o gur rang cẖalūlai rāṯī.
The Lord's humble Saints meditate on the Lord; they are imbued with the deep crimson color of the Guru's Love.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਊਤਮ ਪਾਤੀ ॥੩॥
हरि हरि भगति बनी अति सोभा हरि जपिओ ऊतम पाती ॥३॥
Har har bẖagaṯ banī aṯ sobẖā har japi▫o ūṯam pāṯī. ||3||
Meditating on the Lord, they attain great glory, and the most sublime honor. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਵੈ ਭਾਤੀ ॥
आपे ठाकुरु आपे सेवकु आपि बनावै भाती ॥
Āpe ṯẖākur āpe sevak āp banāvai bẖāṯī.
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant; He Himself creates His environments.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਭਗਾਤੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
नानकु जनु तुमरी सरणाई हरि राखहु लाज भगाती ॥४॥५॥
Nānak jan ṯumrī sarṇā▫ī har rākẖo lāj bẖagāṯī. ||4||5||
Servant Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary, O Lord; protect and preserve the honor of Your devotee. ||4||5||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਕਣੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਵਿਲਕ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ, ਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਣੀ ਪਾ।
ਬੂੰਦ = ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ। ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ = ਪਪੀਹਾ। ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ = ਤਰਲੇ ਲੈਂਦਾ। ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ। ਨਿਮਖਾਤੀ = ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ, ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਬੂੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੜਫ਼ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ), ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਸ੍ਵਾਂਤੀ-) ਬੂੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਤੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਪਾ ਦੇ।੧।
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਇਕ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਲੈ ਅਮਲੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਮ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਫੀਮ ਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ, ਅਫੀਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮਰ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਓ।
ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ = ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਰਾਤੀ = ਰੱਤੀ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ। ਅਮਲੀ = ਨਸ਼ਈ, ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ = ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੜਫ਼ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਅਫ਼ੀਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਨਸ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਮਲੀ (ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੜਫ਼ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਘਬਰਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਵਰ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਹਮ ਲਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਮਾਤੀ ॥ ਤੂ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਗਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਓੜਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਭੋਰਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਠਾਕਰ ਪਰੇਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮ ਪਰੇਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਤੱਮਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਪਰਮ ਉਤੱਮ ਹੈਂ। ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਵਸਥਾ, ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਰਵਰ = ਤਾਲਾਬ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ = ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘਾ। ਮਾਤੀ = ਮਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਭਰ, ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ। ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ = ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ। ਗਾਤੀ = ਗਤਿ। ਮਿਤਿ = ਮਾਪ।੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਬੜਾ ਹੀ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੇ। ਤੂੰ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ-ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੨।

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਦੀ। ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੇ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਤੀ = ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਾਤੀ = ਪਤਿ, ਇੱਜ਼ਤ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਬੜੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਮ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ।੩।
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਵੈ ਭਾਤੀ ॥ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਭਗਾਤੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਾ ਵਾਯੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਰਚ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖ।
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ = ਮਾਲਕ। ਭਾਤੀ = ਭਾਂਤਿ, ਵਿਓਂਤ, ਢੰਗ। ਭਗਾਤੀ = ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ।੪।
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਢੋ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਢੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੪।੫।

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਇਕ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
हरि बिनु रहि न सकउ इक राती ॥
Har bin rėh na saka▫o ik rāṯī.
Without the Lord, I cannot live for even a second.
ਜਿਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਲੈ ਅਮਲੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਮ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिउ बिनु अमलै अमली मरि जाई है तिउ हरि बिनु हम मरि जाती ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o bin amlai amlī mar jā▫ī hai ṯi▫o har bin ham mar jāṯī. Rahā▫o.
Like the addict who dies without his drug, I die without the Lord. ||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਵਰ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਹਮ ਲਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਮਾਤੀ ॥
तुम हरि सरवर अति अगाह हम लहि न सकहि अंतु माती ॥
Ŧum har sarvar aṯ agāh ham lėh na sakahi anṯ māṯī.
You, Lord, are the deepest, most unfathomable ocean; I cannot find even a trace of Your limits.
ਤੂ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਗਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
तू परै परै अपर्मपरु सुआमी मिति जानहु आपन गाती ॥२॥
Ŧū parai parai aprampar su▫āmī miṯ jānhu āpan gāṯī. ||2||
You are the most remote of the remote, limitless and transcendent; O Lord Master, You alone know Your state and extent. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
हरि के संत जना हरि जपिओ गुर रंगि चलूलै राती ॥
Har ke sanṯ janā har japi▫o gur rang cẖalūlai rāṯī.
The Lord's humble Saints meditate on the Lord; they are imbued with the deep crimson color of the Guru's Love.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਊਤਮ ਪਾਤੀ ॥੩॥
हरि हरि भगति बनी अति सोभा हरि जपिओ ऊतम पाती ॥३॥
Har har bẖagaṯ banī aṯ sobẖā har japi▫o ūṯam pāṯī. ||3||
Meditating on the Lord, they attain great glory, and the most sublime honor. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਵੈ ਭਾਤੀ ॥
आपे ठाकुरु आपे सेवकु आपि बनावै भाती ॥
Āpe ṯẖākur āpe sevak āp banāvai bẖāṯī.
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant; He Himself creates His environments.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਭਗਾਤੀ ॥੪॥੫॥

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖਾਤੀ ॥੧॥
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਕਣੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਵਿਲਕ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ, ਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਣੀ ਪਾ।
ਬੂੰਦ = ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ। ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ = ਪਪੀਹਾ। ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ = ਤਰਲੇ ਲੈਂਦਾ। ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ। ਨਿਮਖਾਤੀ = ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ, ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਬੂੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੜਫ਼ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ), ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਸ੍ਵਾਂਤੀ-) ਬੂੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਤੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਪਾ ਦੇ।੧।
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਇਕ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਲੈ ਅਮਲੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਮ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਫੀਮ ਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ, ਅਫੀਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮਰ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਓ।
ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ = ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਰਾਤੀ = ਰੱਤੀ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ। ਅਮਲੀ = ਨਸ਼ਈ, ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੈ = ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੜਫ਼ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਅਫ਼ੀਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਨਸ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਮਲੀ (ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੜਫ਼ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਘਬਰਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਵਰ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਹਮ ਲਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਮਾਤੀ ॥ ਤੂ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਗਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਓੜਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਭੋਰਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਠਾਕਰ ਪਰੇਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮ ਪਰੇਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਤੱਮਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਪਰਮ ਉਤੱਮ ਹੈਂ। ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਵਸਥਾ, ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਰਵਰ = ਤਾਲਾਬ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ = ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘਾ। ਮਾਤੀ = ਮਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਭਰ, ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ। ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ = ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ। ਗਾਤੀ = ਗਤਿ। ਮਿਤਿ = ਮਾਪ।੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਬੜਾ ਹੀ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੇ। ਤੂੰ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ-ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੨।

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਦੀ। ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੇ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਤੀ = ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਾਤੀ = ਪਤਿ, ਇੱਜ਼ਤ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਬੜੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਮ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ।੩।
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਵੈ ਭਾਤੀ ॥ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਭਗਾਤੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਾ ਵਾਯੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਰਚ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖ।
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ = ਮਾਲਕ। ਭਾਤੀ = ਭਾਂਤਿ, ਵਿਓਂਤ, ਢੰਗ। ਭਗਾਤੀ = ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ।੪।
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਢੋ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਢੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੪।੫।
