Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper. By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind; He cannot be obtained in any other way. ||1|| So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause|| In the company of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, you shall earn the wealth of the Lord; this wealth of the Lord is not obtained anywhere else, by any other means, at all. The dealer in the Lord's Jewels purchases the wealth of the Lord's jewels; the dealer in cheap glass jewels cannot acquire the Lord's wealth by empty words. ||2|| The Lord's wealth is like jewels, gems and rubies. At the appointed time in the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours of the morning, the Lord's devotees lovingly center their attention on the Lord, and the wealth of the Lord. The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted. In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3|| The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away. Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4|| The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step. In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5|| The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away. This wealth of the Lord Waheguru Ji is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak.

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
जिथै हरि आराधीऐ तिथै हरि मितु सहाई ॥
Jithai har ārāḏẖī▫ai ṯithai har miṯ sahā▫ī.
Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
गुर किरपा ते हरि मनि वसै होरतु बिधि लइआ न जाई ॥१॥
Gur kirpā ṯe har man vasai horaṯ biḏẖ la▫i▫ā na jā▫ī. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind; He cannot be obtained in any other way. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु संचीऐ भाई ॥
Har ḏẖan sancẖī▫ai bẖā▫ī.
So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,
ਜਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जि हलति पलति हरि होइ सखाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jė halaṯ palaṯ har ho▫e sakẖā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
सतसंगती संगि हरि धनु खटीऐ होर थै होरतु उपाइ हरि धनु कितै न पाई ॥
Saṯsangṯī sang har ḏẖan kẖatī▫ai hor thai horaṯ upā▫e har ḏẖan kiṯai na pā▫ī.
In the company of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, you shall earn the wealth of the Lord; this wealth of the Lord is not obtained anywhere else, by any other means, at all.
ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੈ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਵਿਹਾਝੇ ਕਚੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਵਾਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
हरि रतनै का वापारीआ हरि रतन धनु विहाझे कचै के वापारीए वाकि हरि धनु लइआ न जाई ॥२॥
Har raṯnai kā vapārī▫ā har raṯan ḏẖan vihājẖe kacẖai ke vāpārī▫e vāk har ḏẖan la▫i▫ā na jā▫ī. ||2||
The dealer in the Lord's Jewels purchases the wealth of the Lord's jewels; the dealer in cheap glass jewels cannot acquire the Lord's wealth by empty words. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਵੇਹਰੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु रतनु जवेहरु माणकु हरि धनै नालि अम्रित वेलै वतै हरि भगती हरि लिव लाई ॥
Har ḏẖan raṯan javehar māṇak har ḏẖanai nāl amriṯ velai vaṯai har bẖagṯī har liv lā▫ī.
The Lord's wealth is like jewels, gems and rubies. At the appointed time in the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours of the morning, the Lord's devotees lovingly center their attention on the Lord, and the wealth of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਕਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਭਗਤ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
हरि धनु अम्रित वेलै वतै का बीजिआ भगत खाइ खरचि रहे निखुटै नाही ॥
Har ḏẖan amriṯ velai vaṯai kā bīji▫ā bẖagaṯ kẖā▫e kẖaracẖ rahe nikẖutai nāhī.
The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
हलति पलति हरि धनै की भगता कउ मिली वडिआई ॥३॥
Halaṯ palaṯ har ḏẖanai kī bẖagṯā ka▫o milī vadi▫ā▫ī. ||3||
In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਸਕਰੈ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਜਮਦੂਤੈ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु निरभउ सदा सदा असथिरु है साचा इहु हरि धनु अगनी तसकरै पाणीऐ जमदूतै किसै का गवाइआ न जाई ॥
Har ḏẖan nirbẖa▫o saḏā saḏā asthir hai sācẖā ih har ḏẖan agnī ṯaskarai pāṇī▫ai jamḏūṯai kisai kā gavā▫i▫ā na jā▫ī.
The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਉਚਕਾ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੪॥
हरि धन कउ उचका नेड़ि न आवई जमु जागाती डंडु न लगाई ॥४॥
Har ḏẖan ka▫o ucẖkā neṛ na āvī jam jāgāṯī dand na lagā▫ī. ||4||
Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4||
ਸਾਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
साकती पाप करि कै बिखिआ धनु संचिआ तिना इक विख नालि न जाई ॥
Sākṯī pāp kar kai bikẖi▫ā ḏẖan sancẖi▫ā ṯinā ik vikẖ nāl na jā▫ī.
The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step.
ਹਲਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਏ ਹਥਹੁ ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
हलतै विचि साकत दुहेले भए हथहु छुड़कि गइआ अगै पलति साकतु हरि दरगह ढोई न पाई ॥५॥
Halṯai vicẖ sākaṯ ḏuhele bẖa▫e hathahu cẖẖuṛak ga▫i▫ā agai palaṯ sākaṯ har ḏargėh dẖo▫ī na pā▫ī. ||5||
In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5||
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਦਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥
इसु हरि धन का साहु हरि आपि है संतहु जिस नो देइ सु हरि धनु लदि चलाई ॥
Is har ḏẖan kā sāhu har āp hai sanṯahu jis no ḏe▫e so har ḏẖan laḏ cẖalā▫ī.
The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away.
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
इसु हरि धनै का तोटा कदे न आवई जन नानक कउ गुरि सोझी पाई ॥६॥३॥१०॥
Is har ḏẖanai kā ṯotā kaḏe na āvī jan Nānak ka▫o gur sojẖī pā▫ī. ||6||3||10||
This wealth of the Lord is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak. ||6||3||10||

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੱਜਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਤੁ = ਮਿੱਤਰ। ਸਹਾਈ = ਮਦਦਗਾਰ।
ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਆ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ, ਨਾਲ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ। {ਹੋਰਤੁ = ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਤਿਤੁ = ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ॥੧॥
(ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,
ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਸੰਚੀਐ = ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!
ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਜਿ ਹਰਿ = ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ! ਹਲਤਿ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਪਲਤਿ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਸਖਾਈ = ਮਿੱਤਰ ॥੧॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਕਮਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਉਕਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਸੰਗਿ = ਨਾਲ। ਸਤ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ = ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਰਲ ਕੇ)। ਖਟੀਐ = ਖੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰਥੈ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ। ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ। ਕਿਤੈ = ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ।
ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਜਵੇਹਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਖਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਤਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਵਿਹਾਝੇ = ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਚੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ = ਕੱਚ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਕੱਚ ਹੀ ਵਿਹਾਝਦੇ ਹਨ)। ਵਾਕਿ = (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਾਕ ਨਾਲ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ, ਮੌਤੀ, ਜਵਾਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਣੀ ਤੁੱਲ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਵੇਹਰੁ = ਜਵਾਹਰ। ਮਾਣਕੁ = ਮੋਤੀ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ। ਵਤੈ = ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ। ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ = ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ। ਲਿਵ = ਲਗਨ। ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ = ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਭੀ) ਧਨ (ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮੋਤੀ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਲ੍ਹਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਕਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਭਗਤ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted.
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਮੁਨਾਸਬ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਖਰਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਿਖੁਟੈ = ਮੁੱਕਦਾ।
ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ (ਉੱਠ ਕੇ) ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਆਪ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3||
ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਤਾ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਲਤਿ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਪਲਤਿ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਕਉ = ਨੂੰ ॥੩॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਸਕਰੈ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਜਮਦੂਤੈ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਅਹਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਤਕਿਲ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਚੋਰ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਤਸਕਰ = ਚੋਰ।
ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ-ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਗ, ਚੋਰ, ਪਾਣੀ, ਮੌਤ-ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਉਚਕਾ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੪॥
Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4||
ਲੁੱਚਾ ਲੰਡਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਦ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਸੂਲ ਉਗਰਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੌਤ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਸੂਲ ਲਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਚਕਾ = ਉਚੱਕਾ, ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਲੁਟੇਰਾ। ਜਾਗਾਤੀ = ਮਸੂਲੀਆ। ਡੰਡੁ = ਡੰਨ ॥੪॥
ਕੋਈ ਲੁਟੇਰਾ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਮ ਮਸੂਲੀਆ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਸਾਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ, ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਜ਼ਹਿਰੀਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਕਦਮ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਸਾਕਤੀ = ਸਾਕਤੀਂ, ਸਾਕਤਾਂ ਨੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ। ਬਿਖਿਆ = ਮਾਇਆ। ਸੰਚਿਆ = ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋੜਿਆ। ਵਿਖ = ਕਦਮ। ਦੁਹੇਲੇ = ਦੁਖੀ।
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਧਨ (ਹੀ) ਜੋੜਿਆ, (ਪਰ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਧਨ ਇਕ ਕਦਮ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਨਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ।
ਹਲਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਏ ਹਥਹੁ ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5||
ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਾਦਾ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਏਦੂੰ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਨਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
ਸਾਕਤ = ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਹਥਹੁ = ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚੋਂ। ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ = ਖੁੱਸ ਗਿਆ। ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ = ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਕਤੁ = ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ}। ਢੋਈ = ਆਸਰਾ ॥੫॥
(ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ (ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖੁੱਸ ਗਿਆ, ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ॥੫॥
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਦਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥
The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away.
ਇਸ ਈਸ਼ਵਾਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸਾਧੂਓ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਹੁ = ਸ਼ਾਹੁ, ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ। ਸੰਤਹੁ = ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜਿਸ ਨੋ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਨੋ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਦਿ = ਲੱਦ ਕੇ।
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਸੌਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਝ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
This wealth of the Lord is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak. ||6||3||10||
ਇਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੋਟਾ = ਘਾਟ। ਆਵਈ = ਆਵਏ, ਆਵੈ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਜਨ ਕਉ = ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ। ਨਾਨਕ = ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥

Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper. By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind; He cannot be obtained in any other way. ||1|| So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause|| In the company of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, you shall earn the wealth of the Lord; this wealth of the Lord is not obtained anywhere else, by any other means, at all. The dealer in the Lord's Jewels purchases the wealth of the Lord's jewels; the dealer in cheap glass jewels cannot acquire the Lord's wealth by empty words. ||2|| The Lord's wealth is like jewels, gems and rubies. At the appointed time in the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours of the morning, the Lord's devotees lovingly center their attention on the Lord, and the wealth of the Lord. The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted. In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3|| The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away. Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4|| The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step. In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5|| The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away. This wealth of the Lord Waheguru Ji is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak.

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
जिथै हरि आराधीऐ तिथै हरि मितु सहाई ॥
Jithai har ārāḏẖī▫ai ṯithai har miṯ sahā▫ī.
Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
गुर किरपा ते हरि मनि वसै होरतु बिधि लइआ न जाई ॥१॥
Gur kirpā ṯe har man vasai horaṯ biḏẖ la▫i▫ā na jā▫ī. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind; He cannot be obtained in any other way. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु संचीऐ भाई ॥
Har ḏẖan sancẖī▫ai bẖā▫ī.
So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,
ਜਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जि हलति पलति हरि होइ सखाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jė halaṯ palaṯ har ho▫e sakẖā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
सतसंगती संगि हरि धनु खटीऐ होर थै होरतु उपाइ हरि धनु कितै न पाई ॥
Saṯsangṯī sang har ḏẖan kẖatī▫ai hor thai horaṯ upā▫e har ḏẖan kiṯai na pā▫ī.
In the company of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, you shall earn the wealth of the Lord; this wealth of the Lord is not obtained anywhere else, by any other means, at all.
ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੈ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਵਿਹਾਝੇ ਕਚੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਵਾਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
हरि रतनै का वापारीआ हरि रतन धनु विहाझे कचै के वापारीए वाकि हरि धनु लइआ न जाई ॥२॥
Har raṯnai kā vapārī▫ā har raṯan ḏẖan vihājẖe kacẖai ke vāpārī▫e vāk har ḏẖan la▫i▫ā na jā▫ī. ||2||
The dealer in the Lord's Jewels purchases the wealth of the Lord's jewels; the dealer in cheap glass jewels cannot acquire the Lord's wealth by empty words. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਵੇਹਰੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु रतनु जवेहरु माणकु हरि धनै नालि अम्रित वेलै वतै हरि भगती हरि लिव लाई ॥
Har ḏẖan raṯan javehar māṇak har ḏẖanai nāl amriṯ velai vaṯai har bẖagṯī har liv lā▫ī.
The Lord's wealth is like jewels, gems and rubies. At the appointed time in the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours of the morning, the Lord's devotees lovingly center their attention on the Lord, and the wealth of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਕਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਭਗਤ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
हरि धनु अम्रित वेलै वतै का बीजिआ भगत खाइ खरचि रहे निखुटै नाही ॥
Har ḏẖan amriṯ velai vaṯai kā bīji▫ā bẖagaṯ kẖā▫e kẖaracẖ rahe nikẖutai nāhī.
The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
हलति पलति हरि धनै की भगता कउ मिली वडिआई ॥३॥
Halaṯ palaṯ har ḏẖanai kī bẖagṯā ka▫o milī vadi▫ā▫ī. ||3||
In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਸਕਰੈ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਜਮਦੂਤੈ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
हरि धनु निरभउ सदा सदा असथिरु है साचा इहु हरि धनु अगनी तसकरै पाणीऐ जमदूतै किसै का गवाइआ न जाई ॥
Har ḏẖan nirbẖa▫o saḏā saḏā asthir hai sācẖā ih har ḏẖan agnī ṯaskarai pāṇī▫ai jamḏūṯai kisai kā gavā▫i▫ā na jā▫ī.
The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਉਚਕਾ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੪॥
हरि धन कउ उचका नेड़ि न आवई जमु जागाती डंडु न लगाई ॥४॥
Har ḏẖan ka▫o ucẖkā neṛ na āvī jam jāgāṯī dand na lagā▫ī. ||4||
Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4||
ਸਾਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
साकती पाप करि कै बिखिआ धनु संचिआ तिना इक विख नालि न जाई ॥
Sākṯī pāp kar kai bikẖi▫ā ḏẖan sancẖi▫ā ṯinā ik vikẖ nāl na jā▫ī.
The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step.
ਹਲਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਏ ਹਥਹੁ ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
हलतै विचि साकत दुहेले भए हथहु छुड़कि गइआ अगै पलति साकतु हरि दरगह ढोई न पाई ॥५॥
Halṯai vicẖ sākaṯ ḏuhele bẖa▫e hathahu cẖẖuṛak ga▫i▫ā agai palaṯ sākaṯ har ḏargėh dẖo▫ī na pā▫ī. ||5||
In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5||
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਦਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥
इसु हरि धन का साहु हरि आपि है संतहु जिस नो देइ सु हरि धनु लदि चलाई ॥
Is har ḏẖan kā sāhu har āp hai sanṯahu jis no ḏe▫e so har ḏẖan laḏ cẖalā▫ī.
The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away.
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
इसु हरि धनै का तोटा कदे न आवई जन नानक कउ गुरि सोझी पाई ॥६॥३॥१०॥
Is har ḏẖanai kā ṯotā kaḏe na āvī jan Nānak ka▫o gur sojẖī pā▫ī. ||6||3||10||
This wealth of the Lord is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak. ||6||3||10||

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੱਜਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਤੁ = ਮਿੱਤਰ। ਸਹਾਈ = ਮਦਦਗਾਰ।
ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਆ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ, ਨਾਲ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ। {ਹੋਰਤੁ = ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਤਿਤੁ = ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ॥੧॥
(ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,
ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਸੰਚੀਐ = ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!
ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਜਿ ਹਰਿ = ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ! ਹਲਤਿ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਪਲਤਿ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਸਖਾਈ = ਮਿੱਤਰ ॥੧॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਕਮਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਉਕਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਸੰਗਿ = ਨਾਲ। ਸਤ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ = ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਰਲ ਕੇ)। ਖਟੀਐ = ਖੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰਥੈ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ। ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ। ਕਿਤੈ = ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ।
ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਜਵੇਹਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਖਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਤਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਵਿਹਾਝੇ = ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਚੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ = ਕੱਚ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਕੱਚ ਹੀ ਵਿਹਾਝਦੇ ਹਨ)। ਵਾਕਿ = (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਾਕ ਨਾਲ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ, ਮੌਤੀ, ਜਵਾਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਣੀ ਤੁੱਲ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਵੇਹਰੁ = ਜਵਾਹਰ। ਮਾਣਕੁ = ਮੋਤੀ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ। ਵਤੈ = ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ। ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ = ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ। ਲਿਵ = ਲਗਨ। ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ = ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਭੀ) ਧਨ (ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮੋਤੀ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਲ੍ਹਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਕਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਭਗਤ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted.
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਮੁਨਾਸਬ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਖਰਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਿਖੁਟੈ = ਮੁੱਕਦਾ।
ਵੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ (ਉੱਠ ਕੇ) ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਆਪ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3||
ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਤਾ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਲਤਿ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਪਲਤਿ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਕਉ = ਨੂੰ ॥੩॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਸਕਰੈ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਜਮਦੂਤੈ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਅਹਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਤਕਿਲ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਚੋਰ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਤਸਕਰ = ਚੋਰ।
ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ-ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਗ, ਚੋਰ, ਪਾਣੀ, ਮੌਤ-ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਉਚਕਾ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੪॥
Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4||
ਲੁੱਚਾ ਲੰਡਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਦ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਸੂਲ ਉਗਰਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੌਤ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਸੂਲ ਲਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਚਕਾ = ਉਚੱਕਾ, ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਲੁਟੇਰਾ। ਜਾਗਾਤੀ = ਮਸੂਲੀਆ। ਡੰਡੁ = ਡੰਨ ॥੪॥
ਕੋਈ ਲੁਟੇਰਾ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਮ ਮਸੂਲੀਆ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਸਾਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ, ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਜ਼ਹਿਰੀਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਕਦਮ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਸਾਕਤੀ = ਸਾਕਤੀਂ, ਸਾਕਤਾਂ ਨੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ। ਬਿਖਿਆ = ਮਾਇਆ। ਸੰਚਿਆ = ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋੜਿਆ। ਵਿਖ = ਕਦਮ। ਦੁਹੇਲੇ = ਦੁਖੀ।
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਧਨ (ਹੀ) ਜੋੜਿਆ, (ਪਰ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਧਨ ਇਕ ਕਦਮ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਨਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ।
ਹਲਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਏ ਹਥਹੁ ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5||
ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਾਦਾ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਏਦੂੰ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਨਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
ਸਾਕਤ = ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਹਥਹੁ = ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚੋਂ। ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ = ਖੁੱਸ ਗਿਆ। ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ = ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਕਤੁ = ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ}। ਢੋਈ = ਆਸਰਾ ॥੫॥
(ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ (ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖੁੱਸ ਗਿਆ, ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ॥੫॥
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਦਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥
The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away.
ਇਸ ਈਸ਼ਵਾਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸਾਧੂਓ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਹੁ = ਸ਼ਾਹੁ, ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ। ਸੰਤਹੁ = ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜਿਸ ਨੋ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਨੋ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਦਿ = ਲੱਦ ਕੇ।
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਸੌਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਝ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
This wealth of the Lord is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak. ||6||3||10||
ਇਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੋਟਾ = ਘਾਟ। ਆਵਈ = ਆਵਏ, ਆਵੈ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਜਨ ਕਉ = ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ। ਨਾਨਕ = ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥
