All beings are Yours — You permeate them all, O my Lord God; You know what they do in their hearts. The Lord is with them, inwardly and outwardly, O my soul; He sees everything, but they deny the Lord in their minds. The Lord is far away from the self-willed manmukhs, O my soul; all their efforts are in vain. Servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, meditates, O my soul, and comes to behold the Lord ever-present. || 1 || They are devotees, and they are selfless servants, O my soul, who are pleasing to the Mind of my God. They are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord, O my soul; night and day, they remain absorbed in the True One. In their company, one's filth is washed away, O my soul; attuned to the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace. Nanak prays to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. || 2 || O tongue, chant and meditate on the Lord of the Universe; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your thirst shall be quenched. One unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind. One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth. By great good fortune, one joins the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. || 3 || In all places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading. His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny. He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child. ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜੋ ਜੀਇ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
सभि जीअ तेरे तूं वरतदा मेरे हरि प्रभ तूं जाणहि जो जीइ कमाईऐ राम ॥
Sabẖ jī▫a ṯere ṯūʼn varaṯḏā mere har parabẖ ṯūʼn jāṇėh jo jī▫e kamā▫ī▫ai rām.

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
हरि अंतरि बाहरि नालि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ वेखै मनि मुकराईऐ राम ॥
Har anṯar bāhar nāl hai merī jinḏuṛī▫e sabẖ vekẖai man mukrā▫ī▫ai rām.
The Lord is with them, inwardly and outwardly, O my soul; He sees everything, but the mortal denies the Lord in his mind.
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
मनमुखा नो हरि दूरि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ बिरथी घाल गवाईऐ राम ॥
Manmukẖā no har ḏūr hai merī jinḏuṛī▫e sabẖ birthī gẖāl gavā▫ī▫ai rām.
The Lord is far away from the self-willed manmukhs, O my soul; all their efforts are in vain.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
जन नानक गुरमुखि धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि हाजरु नदरी आईऐ राम ॥१॥
Jan Nānak gurmukẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e har hājar naḏrī ā▫ī▫ai rām. ||1||
Servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, meditates on the Lord, O my soul; he beholds the Lord ever-present. ||1||
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
से भगत से सेवक मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो प्रभ मेरे मनि भाणे राम ॥
Se bẖagaṯ se sevak merī jinḏuṛī▫e jo parabẖ mere man bẖāṇe rām.
They are devotees, and they are servants, O my soul, who are pleasing to the Mind of my God.
ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਨਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
से हरि दरगह पैनाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अहिनिसि साचि समाणे राम ॥
Se har ḏargėh painā▫i▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ahinis sācẖ samāṇe rām.
They are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord, O my soul; night and day, they remain absorbed in the True Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
तिन कै संगि मलु उतरै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए रंगि राते नदरि नीसाणे राम ॥
Ŧin kai sang mal uṯrai merī jinḏuṛī▫e rang rāṯe naḏar nīsāṇe rām.
In their company, the filth of one's sins is washed away, O my soul; imbued with the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
नानक की प्रभ बेनती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मिलि साधू संगि अघाणे राम ॥२॥
Nānak kī parabẖ benṯī merī jinḏuṛī▫e mil sāḏẖū sang agẖāṇe rām. ||2||
Nanak offers his prayer to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. ||2||
ਹੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
हे रसना जपि गोबिंदो मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जपि हरि हरि त्रिसना जाए राम ॥
He rasnā jap gobinḏo merī jinḏuṛī▫e jap har har ṯarisnā jā▫e rām.
O tongue, chant the Name of God; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your desires shall be extinguished.
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
जिसु दइआ करे मेरा पारब्रहमु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिसु मनि नामु वसाए राम ॥
Jis ḏa▫i▫ā kare merā pārbarahm merī jinḏuṛī▫e ṯis man nām vasā▫e rām.
He, unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
जिसु भेटे पूरा सतिगुरू मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सो हरि धनु निधि पाए राम ॥
Jis bẖete pūrā saṯgurū merī jinḏuṛī▫e so har ḏẖan niḏẖ pā▫e rām.
One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
वडभागी संगति मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए नानक हरि गुण गाए राम ॥३॥
vadbẖāgī sangaṯ milai merī jinḏuṛī▫e Nānak har guṇ gā▫e rām. ||3||
By great good fortune, one joins the Company of the Holy, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
थान थनंतरि रवि रहिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पारब्रहमु प्रभु दाता राम ॥
Thān thananṯar rav rahi▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e pārbarahm parabẖ ḏāṯā rām.
In the places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading.
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ता का अंतु न पाईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पूरन पुरखु बिधाता राम ॥
Ŧā kā anṯ na pā▫ī▫ai merī jinḏuṛī▫e pūran purakẖ biḏẖāṯā rām.
His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
सरब जीआ प्रतिपालदा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ बालक पित माता राम ॥
Sarab jī▫ā parṯipālḏā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ji▫o bālak piṯ māṯā rām.
He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
सहस सिआणप नह मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक गुरमुखि जाता राम ॥४॥६॥ छका १ ॥
Sahas si▫āṇap nah milai merī jinḏuṛī▫e jan Nānak gurmukẖ jāṯā rām. ||4||6|| Cẖẖakā 1.
By thousands of clever tricks, He cannot be obtained, O my soul; servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, has come to know the Lord. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||

ਸਮੂਹ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਡੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ।
ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਜੀਅ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜੀਉ' ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਇ = ਜੀ ਵਿਚ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਕਮਾਈਐ = ਕਮਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ (ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ (ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ = ਮੁੱਕਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ) ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਮੁਕਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
The Lord is far away from the self-willed manmukhs, O my soul; all their efforts are in vain.
ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰਿਆਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮੁਸ਼ੱਕਤ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਘਾਲ = ਮੇਹਨਤ। ਗਵਾਈਐ = ਗਵਾਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹਜੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ। ਹਾਜਰੁ = ਪਰਤੱਖ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ। ਆਈਐ = ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਅਨਿੱਨ ਸ਼੍ਰਧਾਲੂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਹੇ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਮਨਾ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇ = {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ} ਉਹ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਣੇ = ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਗਏ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਗਤ ਹਨ (ਅਸਲ) ਸੇਵਕ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਨਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੰਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਹਿਨਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹੂੰ ਰੈਣ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਇਆ = ਸਿਰੋਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਹਿ = ਦਿਨ। ਨਿਸਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਸਾਚਿ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
In their company, the filth of one's sins is washed away, O my soul; imbued with the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਬੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਤੇ = ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨੀਸਾਣੇ = (ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
Nanak offers his prayer to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਿਨੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹੇ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਅਘਾਣੇ = ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇ, ਇੰਜ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
O tongue, chant the Name of God; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your desires shall be extinguished.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭੇ! ਤੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ-ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਬੁਝ ਜਾਣ।
ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ। ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ = ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ। ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
He, unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind.
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੈਡਾਂ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਜੋ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭੇਟੇ = ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਧਿ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ। ਪਏ = ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
By great good fortune, one joins the Company of the Holy, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫਤਾਂ ਗਾਇਨ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
In the places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading.
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਥਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਵੜਿਆ!
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ = ਥਾਨ ਥਾਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ, ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਓੜਕ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਧਾਤਾ = ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ, ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਉ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪੋਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਓ ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦੇ ਪੋਸਦੇ ਹਨ।

By thousands of clever tricks, He cannot be obtained, O my soul; servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, has come to know the Lord. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||

One unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind. One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth. By great good fortune, one joins the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, O my soul. ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜੋ ਜੀਇ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
सभि जीअ तेरे तूं वरतदा मेरे हरि प्रभ तूं जाणहि जो जीइ कमाईऐ राम ॥
Sabẖ jī▫a ṯere ṯūʼn varaṯḏā mere har parabẖ ṯūʼn jāṇėh jo jī▫e kamā▫ī▫ai rām.
All beings are Yours - You permeate them all. O my Lord God, You know what they do in their hearts.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
हरि अंतरि बाहरि नालि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ वेखै मनि मुकराईऐ राम ॥
Har anṯar bāhar nāl hai merī jinḏuṛī▫e sabẖ vekẖai man mukrā▫ī▫ai rām.
The Lord is with them, inwardly and outwardly, O my soul; He sees everything, but the mortal denies the Lord in his mind.
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
मनमुखा नो हरि दूरि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ बिरथी घाल गवाईऐ राम ॥
Manmukẖā no har ḏūr hai merī jinḏuṛī▫e sabẖ birthī gẖāl gavā▫ī▫ai rām.
The Lord is far away from the self-willed manmukhs, O my soul; all their efforts are in vain.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
जन नानक गुरमुखि धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि हाजरु नदरी आईऐ राम ॥१॥
Jan Nānak gurmukẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e har hājar naḏrī ā▫ī▫ai rām. ||1||
Servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, meditates on the Lord, O my soul; he beholds the Lord ever-present. ||1||
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
से भगत से सेवक मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो प्रभ मेरे मनि भाणे राम ॥
Se bẖagaṯ se sevak merī jinḏuṛī▫e jo parabẖ mere man bẖāṇe rām.
They are devotees, and they are servants, O my soul, who are pleasing to the Mind of my God.
ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਨਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
से हरि दरगह पैनाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अहिनिसि साचि समाणे राम ॥
Se har ḏargėh painā▫i▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ahinis sācẖ samāṇe rām.
They are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord, O my soul; night and day, they remain absorbed in the True Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
तिन कै संगि मलु उतरै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए रंगि राते नदरि नीसाणे राम ॥
Ŧin kai sang mal uṯrai merī jinḏuṛī▫e rang rāṯe naḏar nīsāṇe rām.
In their company, the filth of one's sins is washed away, O my soul; imbued with the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
नानक की प्रभ बेनती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मिलि साधू संगि अघाणे राम ॥२॥
Nānak kī parabẖ benṯī merī jinḏuṛī▫e mil sāḏẖū sang agẖāṇe rām. ||2||
Nanak offers his prayer to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. ||2||
ਹੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
हे रसना जपि गोबिंदो मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जपि हरि हरि त्रिसना जाए राम ॥
He rasnā jap gobinḏo merī jinḏuṛī▫e jap har har ṯarisnā jā▫e rām.
O tongue, chant the Name of God; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your desires shall be extinguished.
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
जिसु दइआ करे मेरा पारब्रहमु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिसु मनि नामु वसाए राम ॥
Jis ḏa▫i▫ā kare merā pārbarahm merī jinḏuṛī▫e ṯis man nām vasā▫e rām.
He, unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
जिसु भेटे पूरा सतिगुरू मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सो हरि धनु निधि पाए राम ॥
Jis bẖete pūrā saṯgurū merī jinḏuṛī▫e so har ḏẖan niḏẖ pā▫e rām.
One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
वडभागी संगति मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए नानक हरि गुण गाए राम ॥३॥
vadbẖāgī sangaṯ milai merī jinḏuṛī▫e Nānak har guṇ gā▫e rām. ||3||
By great good fortune, one joins the Company of the Holy, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
थान थनंतरि रवि रहिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पारब्रहमु प्रभु दाता राम ॥
Thān thananṯar rav rahi▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e pārbarahm parabẖ ḏāṯā rām.
In the places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading.
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ता का अंतु न पाईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पूरन पुरखु बिधाता राम ॥
Ŧā kā anṯ na pā▫ī▫ai merī jinḏuṛī▫e pūran purakẖ biḏẖāṯā rām.
His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
सरब जीआ प्रतिपालदा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ बालक पित माता राम ॥
Sarab jī▫ā parṯipālḏā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ji▫o bālak piṯ māṯā rām.
He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
सहस सिआणप नह मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक गुरमुखि जाता राम ॥४॥६॥ छका १ ॥
Sahas si▫āṇap nah milai merī jinḏuṛī▫e jan Nānak gurmukẖ jāṯā rām. ||4||6|| Cẖẖakā 1.
By thousands of clever tricks, He cannot be obtained, O my soul; servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, has come to know the Lord. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||

ਸਮੂਹ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਡੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ।
ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਜੀਅ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜੀਉ' ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਇ = ਜੀ ਵਿਚ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਕਮਾਈਐ = ਕਮਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ (ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ (ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ = ਮੁੱਕਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ) ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਮੁਕਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰਿਆਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮੁਸ਼ੱਕਤ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਘਾਲ = ਮੇਹਨਤ। ਗਵਾਈਐ = ਗਵਾਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹਜੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ। ਹਾਜਰੁ = ਪਰਤੱਖ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ। ਆਈਐ = ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਅਨਿੱਨ ਸ਼੍ਰਧਾਲੂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਹੇ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਮਨਾ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇ = {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ} ਉਹ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਣੇ = ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਗਏ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਗਤ ਹਨ (ਅਸਲ) ਸੇਵਕ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੰਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਹਿਨਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹੂੰ ਰੈਣ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਇਆ = ਸਿਰੋਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਹਿ = ਦਿਨ। ਨਿਸਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਸਾਚਿ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
In their company, the filth of one's sins is washed away, O my soul; imbued with the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਬੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਤੇ = ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨੀਸਾਣੇ = (ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
Nanak offers his prayer to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਿਨੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹੇ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਅਘਾਣੇ = ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇ, ਇੰਜ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
O tongue, chant the Name of God; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your desires shall be extinguished.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭੇ! ਤੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ-ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਬੁਝ ਜਾਣ।
ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ। ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ = ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ। ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
He, unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind.
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੈਡਾਂ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਜੋ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭੇਟੇ = ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਧਿ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ। ਪਏ = ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
By great good fortune, one joins the Company of the Holy, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫਤਾਂ ਗਾਇਨ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
In the places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading.
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਥਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਵੜਿਆ!
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ = ਥਾਨ ਥਾਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ, ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਓੜਕ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਧਾਤਾ = ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ, ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਉ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪੋਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਓ ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦੇ ਪੋਸਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
By thousands of clever tricks, He cannot be obtained, O my soul; servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, has come to know the Lord. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||
