बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जीअ के बंधना विचि हउमै करम कमाहि ॥
Bin saṯgur seve jī▫a ke banḏẖnā vicẖ ha▫umai karam kamāhi.

Jāla▫o aisī rīṯ jiṯ mai pi▫ārā vīsrai.
Burn away those rituals which lead you to forget the Beloved Lord, Waheguru Ji.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥
नानक साई भली परीति जितु साहिब सेती पति रहै ॥२॥
Nānak sā▫ī bẖalī parīṯ jiṯ sāhib seṯī paṯ rahai. ||2||
O Nanak, sublime is that love, which preserves my honor with my Lord, Waheguru Ji Master. ||2||

हरि इको दाता मंगीऐ मन चिंदिआ पाईऐ ॥
Har iko ḏāṯā mangī▫ai man cẖinḏi▫ā pā▫ī▫ai.
Beg from the One Lord, Waheguru Ji, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart's desires.
ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥
जे दूजे पासहु मंगीऐ ता लाज मराईऐ ॥
Je ḏūje pāshu mangī▫ai ṯā lāj marā▫ī▫ai.
But if you beg from another, then you shall be shamed and destroyed.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
जिनि सेविआ तिनि फलु पाइआ तिसु जन की सभ भुख गवाईऐ ॥
Jin sevi▫ā ṯin fal pā▫i▫ā ṯis jan kī sabẖ bẖukẖ gavā▫ī▫ai.
One who serves the Lord, Waheguru Ji obtains the fruits of his rewards; all of his hunger is satisfied.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
नानकु तिन विटहु वारिआ जिन अनदिनु हिरदै हरि नामु धिआईऐ ॥१०॥
Nānak ṯin vitahu vāri▫ā jin an▫ḏin hirḏai har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai. ||10||

ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ, ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਫਿਕਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਬੋਲ ਚਾਲ, ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦਾ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ, ਸਿਆਹ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਖੜੇ ਹੋ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਰੜ ਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਪਿੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਠਉਰ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਇਸਥਿਤੀ, ਭਟਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ। ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ = ਕਾਲੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ, ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ।੧।
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਲਈ ਬੰਧਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਉਹ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਫੇਰ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਫੇਰ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਭੀ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ 'ਨਾਮ' ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਲੇ-ਮੂੰਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਮਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਭੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।੧।

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਰਸਮੀ ਰਿਵਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੇ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਲਉ = ਮੈਂ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂ। ਮੈ = ਮੈਨੂੰ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ।੨।
ਮੈਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਏ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
ਪਉੜੀ। ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗਨੂੰਗਾ, ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਹੋ ਮਰਨੂੰਗਾ। ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਵਾਰਥੀ ਰੁਚੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਭੁਖ = ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ।
ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਕੋ ਹਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ; ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੰਗੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਈਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ)। ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जीअ के बंधना विचि हउमै करम कमाहि ॥
Bin saṯgur seve jī▫a ke banḏẖnā vicẖ ha▫umai karam kamāhi.

Jāla▫o aisī rīṯ jiṯ mai pi▫ārā vīsrai.
Burn away those rituals which lead you to forget the Beloved Lord, Waheguru Ji.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥
नानक साई भली परीति जितु साहिब सेती पति रहै ॥२॥

Beg from the One Lord, Waheguru Ji, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart's desires.
ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥
जे दूजे पासहु मंगीऐ ता लाज मराईऐ ॥
Je ḏūje pāshu mangī▫ai ṯā lāj marā▫ī▫ai.
But if you beg from another, then you shall be shamed and destroyed.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
जिनि सेविआ तिनि फलु पाइआ तिसु जन की सभ भुख गवाईऐ ॥
Jin sevi▫ā ṯin fal pā▫i▫ā ṯis jan kī sabẖ bẖukẖ gavā▫ī▫ai.
One who serves the Lord, Waheguru Ji obtains the fruits of his rewards; all of his hunger is satisfied.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
नानकु तिन विटहु वारिआ जिन अनदिनु हिरदै हरि नामु धिआईऐ ॥१०॥

ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ, ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਫਿਕਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਬੋਲ ਚਾਲ, ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦਾ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ, ਸਿਆਹ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਖੜੇ ਹੋ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਰੜ ਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਪਿੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਠਉਰ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਇਸਥਿਤੀ, ਭਟਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ। ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ = ਕਾਲੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ, ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ।੧।
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਲਈ ਬੰਧਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਉਹ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਫੇਰ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਫੇਰ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਭੀ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ 'ਨਾਮ' ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਲੇ-ਮੂੰਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਮਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਭੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।੧।

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਰਸਮੀ ਰਿਵਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੇ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਲਉ = ਮੈਂ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂ। ਮੈ = ਮੈਨੂੰ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ।੨।
ਮੈਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਏ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
ਪਉੜੀ। ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗਨੂੰਗਾ, ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਹੋ ਮਰਨੂੰਗਾ। ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਵਾਰਥੀ ਰੁਚੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਭੁਖ = ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ।
ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਕੋ ਹਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ; ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੰਗੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਈਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ)। ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
